These terms govern your use of Note a day, provided by Ash Kyd (contact: ash@kyd.com.au). By using Note a day, you agree to them.

What Note a day is

Note a day is a note-taking app that stores your notes on your own device and syncs an encrypted copy to a third-party storage provider you choose — Google Drive, Dropbox, or S3. We don't host, store, or have access to your notes.

Your responsibilities

The copy of your notes on your device is stored unencrypted — Note a day relies on your device's own security for that copy, not on the app. If that's not an acceptable trade-off for you, this isn't the app for you. The synced copy is encrypted with a password only you know; if you lose that password, we can't recover your notes — nobody can. You're responsible for remembering it, for the security of your own device, and for keeping your own backups. You're also responsible for the third-party storage account you connect, and for complying with that provider's terms.

Acceptable use

Don't use Note a day for anything unlawful, or in a way that interferes with the service or other users. We may suspend access for use that breaches this.

Ownership of your data

Your notes are, and remain, entirely yours. They live on your own device, and the synced copy is encrypted before it leaves your device and lands in your own third-party account — we have no ability to access, use, or claim any right over their content.

No warranty

Note a day is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every browser or device. See the privacy policy for what browser compatibility depends on.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any loss of data, loss of access, or other damages arising from your use of Note a day — including data loss caused by a forgotten password, a third-party storage provider outage, or browser incompatibility.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Note a day after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
